Apacer announces the world's first DDR3-1600MHz overclocking module, starting a DDR3 overclocking war

The world's fifth largest memory module maker Apacer Technology today announced the DDR3 for desktop range. This high-level DDR3 range offering fully supports the Bearlake desktop chipset from Intel, marking the official entry into the new era of DDR3 with higher performance, lower energy consumption and greater capacity.

Though Intel officially announces in June 2007 the Bearlake chipset for desktop with DDR3 support, the compatibility of the DDR 3 range from Apacer Technology has already been certified by leading motherboard manufacturers. Apacer Technology maintains long-term cooperation with motherboard manufacturers and has conducted a series of product functionality and compatibility tests during the development of the DDR3 range. Therefore, its DDR3 modules deliver better compatibility with motherboards and are certified by leading motherboard manufacturers the earliest compared with DDR3 modules by other makers. Moreover, in addition to the DDR3 1066/1333 models, Apacer Technology announces the world's first DDR3-1600MHz overclocking module. This will be another world's fastest overclocking module from Apacer Technology after the DDR2-1200+ overclocking module and realizes the maker's commitment to leading overclocking technology. Following the respective announcement of the DDR2-1200+ and DDR3-1600HMz modules, Apacer Technology's leadership in both DDR2 and DDR3 modules will be more consolidated.

When compared to the DDR2, the DDR3 for desktop from Apacer Technology delivers more advantages. First, it is equipped with the 8-bit prefetch design, with a computing speed of 800-1600MHz, which doubles the DDR2 using the 4-bit prefetch design with a computing speed of 400-800MHz. Second, the voltage of DDR3 is controlled at 1.5V, which saves more energy than the DDR2 at 1.8V. Third, the ASR (automatic self-refresh) design is applied to the DDR3 to lower the die temperature by reducing the refreshing frequency without sacrificing data transfer reliability. When comparing the DDR3-800, DDR3-1066 and DDR3-1333 with the DDR2-800, the average power consumption of the DDR3 modules is reduced by 25%, 20% and 40% respectively.

The DDR3 for desktop range from Apacer Technology includes the DDR3-1066MHz and DDR3-1333MHz, both with 512KB and 1GB models to meet the needs of various desktop PCs and workstations. Apacer Technology also introduces the DDR3-1600MHz overclocking series in a kit (i.e. 2 modules in a pack) with 1GB (512KB x 2) and 2GB (1GB x 2) models. This series supports massive data processing, such as movie editing and high-level games, to meet the aspiration of superb performance of players and PC experts.
